Who qualifies for Minority Grants?
The government and foundations across the U.S. offer grants to benefit minority
populations in many fields of work, businesses, and research groups. There
are many minority grants available, but you must qualify, by meeting eligibility requirements.
Blacks / African Americans
Blacks / African Americans have available many college grant opportunities, including:
- United Negro College Fund
- Frederick Douglass Scholars Program
- Mordecai Wyatt Johnson Program
- The National Black Nurses Association
- The March of Dimes Nursing Scholarships
- The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants
- The American Psychological Association's minority fellowship program
The United Negro College Fund (UNCF) is the best impressive minority college grant. The UNCF was found in 1942, and in 1972 made popular the phrase "A mind is a terrible thing to waste". This minority college grant funds many African American colleges and universities.
Hispanic / Latino Minority Grants
Hispanic minority grants are much less available than those to many other minitories. The U.S. became aware of this deficit and contributed millions of dollars towards the development of Hispanic universities and colleges. In addition to $15

Native American Indian Minority Grants
To qualify for a Native American college grant, you must have proof of your Certificate of Indian Blood (CIB), and also belong to a well-recognized tribe.
Most Native American descendents don't have proof, as many tribes changed their names and did not keep documentation. If you don't have a CIB, you may want to trace your genealogy to prove your ancestry, then apply for a CIB. If you do a CIB and belong to a tribe, you should qualify for the grants listed below:
